Dear Friends:
Welcome to Notre Dame High School! Founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, we opened our doors in 2004 to eighty 9th grade students. This year we celebrated our first graduation with 100% of our graduates accepted into a 4 year college of their choice. The 2008-2009 academic year brings us a student body of 240 young adults in grades nine through twelve. Ours is a neighborhood school whose mission is to offer a Catholic, college preparatory education to a community for whom other such opportunities are not financially possible. Notre Dame is able to offer this type of education because of its most innovative component: the Hire4Ed Program.

Through this unique work-study program each student works five days a month in an entry-level corporate position to fund 70% of his or her education. Currently over sixty corporations, located north of Boston, including Verizon Wireless, Kraft Foods, TDBanknorth, AAA of Merrimack Valley, and Lawrence General Hospital have partnered with Notre Dame High School to employ our students. This mutually beneficial relationship is working, given the 90% renewal rate of our corporate partners each year.
Teachers drawn to the mission of Notre Dame High School strive to provide a supportive learning environment that encourages students to reach their full potential, equipping them for a lifetime of learning and achievement. Small classes and additional tutoring provide stimulating and challenging classroom encounters. Our teachers encourage students to achieve academic excellence, and to become critical thinkers, ethical decision-makers, and contributing members of their local communities and the world beyond. Student life is enriched through student participation in activities such as Campus Ministry, Student Council, School Newspaper, Athletic Teams and Yearbook.
Notre Dame High School seeks to meet the spiritual, academic, and psychological needs of its students, while inviting and encouraging parents to be involved in the development of their sons and daughters. Our ultimate goal is to have our students accepted at a college of their choice and thereafter to be successful in attaining a degree.
We thank our friends, supporters, and business partners who understand the importance of investing in our students. NDHS is an exciting place to be, and we welcome others who want to make a lasting, positive difference in the lives of young men and women. In Notre Dame,
Sister Mary Murphy, SND de Namur, Ph.D. President Notre Dame High School |
