Principal's Message

August 1, 2011

Dear Notre Dame Community,

Today officially begins the 2011 – 2012 school year at Notre Dame High School. Our Corporate Work Study Program’s two-week training began at 7:30 this morning and they welcomed 91 incoming grade 9 students and 6 transfers to the two week training program. 91 freshmen represent the largest entering class in our history.

In addition, this past July, we received our full accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. After graduating four classes and renovating our entire building, we completed our Self-Study in the fall of 2010, and had our visit the last week of March, 2011. The Visiting Team of seven educators from the northeast was impressed with our entire program and sent a favorable report to the Commission on Independent Schools which monitors all independent school programs in a five state region. Although I never doubted that we were worthy of full accreditation, I, of course, was pleased to receive the official designation.

Notre Dame High School continues to prepare students to attend competitive colleges after four years here. Our Class of 2011 added Tufts, Brown, and Georgetown to a growing list of competitive colleges that are open to our top students. We are proud of our tradition and look forward to an outstanding year in 2011- 2012.

Thank you for your continuing support!

Thomas Ryan, Ed.D.
